This Church of St. George the Victorious is the main patriarchal church of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople. The Church in Constantinople was founded by the holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called. After Constantinople became the capital of the Roman Empire in 330, its ecclesiastical position increased to the status it still has today.
