I love this place. VCR Bangsar is a must-visit for me every single time I go to KL, no exceptions! I’ve been religiously going there for brunch, getting a latte to go with the truffle scrambled eggs, before ending it off with a cake if my stomach allows.

This is also where I stock up on beans to bring back to Singapore. The only other notable selections for coffee beans, to me would be Pulp by PPP and 103 Coffee @ APW. All of them situated pretty close to each other so it’s a coffee lover’s dream come true!

But back to VCR, the food’s always great; they have seasonal specials which never disappoint. In fact, the last time I was here, a friend of mine who never finishes her food, gulped down an entire burger!

I’d wanna gatekeep this place but it seems like it’s already getting tons of customers anyway so thought it’s time for me to leave a glowing review of the place!
The place is very cozy place, perfect to chill out and catch up with friends over breakfast. The food was divine, especially Avocado Toast and Sourdough Waffle and Jam. The blueberry jam tasted pure. The interior is very relaxing and lighting was on point for the gram.
Very cool interior. Dim like a bar/cafe. Spacious and clean. There are a few outdoor dining as well. It was not crowded as it was after lunch hour. The menu was attractive. You have to order and pay at the counter.
I just had to try the soft shell crab burger. Unusual but delicious with a sunny side up egg and a combination of sauces. The crab was crispy as it should be. Avocado toast was just as yummy. A plateful of colour. The drinks were good. The lemon tart was too runny and sweet for me but it completed my satisfying lunch. Service was great.
The sauce and noodle texture are just perfect. Wonton are the coin size type with thin skin. Reasonable price. Very good and recommend to visit.
Terrific noodles. I would give it 100 stars as the taste was really good! The owner shared that the recipe is 105+ years old (in 2024), the noodles are home-made recipe passed down from great-great grandfather and this is a 4th-generation run family business.
Life-changing! Please try it if you're in KL!
Excellent service by the staff at this small, cozy restaurant. The food is delicious, freshly made, and beautifully presented. Don't miss the Piccolo Latte—it's amazing! Highly recommend..!
VCR is a place to be at. Great location. A welcoming staff and lively place. You get lip smacking food and I believe whatever you order is just wow. Went for brunch and had breakfast meal with a french toast. I can say one of the best french toast ive ever had.
A quiet noodle and char siew shop located at the intersection of a busy road.

The interior has remained untouched for decades, evident in the retro mosaic tiles on the floor and the items displayed on the walls. Chinese oldies tunes were playing softly in the background.

The people are humble and friendly, and the wantons were delicious, though the dried noodles were a tad bland for my taste.
Good food, good coffee, and just overall good vibes. their fried chicken waffles and soft shell crab burger are my faves. tasty food thanks to Stuart and his team.
Prices are reasonable. My family enjoyed the escargots. Crispy Duck is a bit on the dry side. Steak frites, ordered medium rare but it was more on the rare side. Croissant and assorted bread with butter was nice. Duck Ravioli was creamy. French onion soup soso. Service is very good!
Food was tasty and nice 👍🏻 specially I like the escargot , French onion soup , staff was attentive , revisited this restaurant, it have been around this area for years . Quality still good 👍🏻
Finally, I get to try out this place after seeing many good reviews about it. I am personally not a fan of Wantan Mee, but I wanted to experience having lunch here. I ordered the BBQ Pork Wantan Mee and Kopi-Peng. I especially love the noodle texture; it’s thinner than most other wantan mee I have had. The char siew (BBQ pork) is nicely grilled; you can see its pinkish color and it has a layer of fat. According to the owners, they make their own noodles and char siew without any preservatives or tenderizer. The service is friendly, though a bit slow, which I have no problem with them taking their time. The ambience of this restaurant is cozy. The retro feel of this place makes it feel like I am going back in time to our grandparents' days.
Their brunch dishes were pleasant! I always find their Turkish style eggs very comforting to eat and their waffles with fried chicken a perfect balance of sweet & savoury 😍

However their matcha croissant was a huge letdown as it was soggy. The outer shell wasn’t flaky at all and the matcha filling was very fluid. Will never order it again.
Authentic, homey, and humble. A lot of the staff are senior citizens. This is a good thing because they get to be active, and we get to see their expertise in action. The noodle sauce is not overpowering, and the pork is very tender.

Places like these are best appreciated (and supported) while we still can. :))
Visit on: 23 Apr 2024
The japanese pop music attracted me to dine in. This raya month has seasonal drink- pandan latte with coconut flakes.
Ordered:
❤️ Smokey Carbonara (I think this carbonara more mozzarella taste, others are more buttery creamy taste). The smoked duck is very delicious (my friend said it tastes like bbq pork)
❤️ Pennsylvania's Soul (is savoury waffle), with fried chicken and special sauce (spicy), provided floral honey to pour on the waffle. Waffle cannot compare with the Fluffed.
Very friendly service and food service are quick.
I enjoyed the meal.
I can say that this place has the best seafood risotto! I would recommend for anyone that craves for a good risotto.

We came here for dinner time under a reservation. The staff were so welcoming and polite. They served plenty of starter before appetizer and it tastes wonderful. They also gave a loaf of baguette before we exit the restaurant.

Parking is a bit hard to find and we had to go around few times to find one spot. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept and the lights are quite dim.

We ordered 2 appetizers: French Onion soup and Escargot.

1. The onion soup are generous for the price and it was delicious! FYI, I saw comment underneath this restaurant review saying the bread is soggy. Clearly they never tried any french onion soup before and the bread is meant to be soaked. Pity that person 😂

2. The escargot is also decent but the more butter is better!

We ordered 2 main dishes: Pulled Beef Panini & Seafood Risotto. Verdict for the Seafood Risotto are on the first sentence and yumm!
The food here was quite mediocre, to be honest. I'm not sure why there are so many high reviews, perhaps the quality has gone down over time.

I came here with my wife. We tried the french onion soup, the burger, and the panini, and a cranberry pastry.

The food:

The pastry was alright, nothing special, though i did expect more from a place that was highly reviewed.

Now, let me tell you the story of the french onion soup. We chose the option of splitting the soup into two cups, which combined, would have been smaller than the size of a newborn ant. The bread on top was soggy, the soup itself had as much taste as instant noodle water, and it looked as if it had been prepared by a ten year old who watched one youtube video on how to pour soup into a bowl.

The burger was just okay, the patty was cold and a little bland, and the fries were decent. Sadly the whole experience was dragged down by the french onion soup prior.

I won't comment on the panini myself since i didn't try it, but my wife said it wasn't great.

The service:

Part of the service here was quite questionable. When serving our food, one of our servers tried to make space on the table, and moved our glasses of water by gripping the lip of the cup, where we already drank from. He also arranged everything in a weird way (food furthest away from us, for some reason) so that we just rearranged everything ourselves again after.

Overall, you're much better off heading to Antipodean, which is just a stones throw away from Yeast, and a marginally better experience.
I can always count on VCR for quality coffee! ☺️ Love coming here for my oat latte as it always tastes consistently good and is served with pretty latte art! 🥰☕️

Great place to chill and hide from the sweltering hot weather outside 🔥🥵. Staff is always friendly and welcoming, and there’s free fast strong wifi 👍😊. There’s nothing to complain about really, except maybe the chairs could be more comfortable? 😆
I had one of the best lunch here. The food was very good, the price was reasonable, and the staff were attentive and kind, especially the senior lady.

We had a duck confit, a seafood linguine, and a burger. Everything either met or exceeded our expectations. I’m sure I’ll come back!
Casual dining place great for brunch or dinner. The shop has a French bistro decor which is really thematic and nice. The service is excellent and the food is amazing. The crab cakes appetiser is a must try. We ordered the duck breast and Barramundi for main. Both dishes tastes delicious. The duck breast is well cooked and tender. And, the fish is cooked well. The complimentary bread was delicious too.
Traditional wanton mee in KL area, this shop has over 100 years history!
Their wanton mee is good, the noodle & skin of wanton made by their own, doesn't have any preservatives.
Their wanton mee got ancient taste and taste good.
You can choose what ingredients you want to eat with wanton mee, like char siew, mushroom chicken legs, curry chicken & etc.
I personally like their mushroom chicken legs & curry chicken flavor.
