Rose Garden
2024 Aug 14
Kind of a sad little rose garden. What you see is what you get. At least it's free to look at something sad.
Interesting for a short stop, but it's free! You can walk up all the way to the top if you really want to. Tip: Horseshoe canyon is much more interesting and you can explore a much wider area there too even if it does cost you $2 to park there.
This monument for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People, is a sad but important and necessary reminder of the reality of some places in Canada. A reminder and call to action so that the past does not have to be the same as the future.
An interesting a piece of Canadian history with information placard about Louis Riel. It would have been nice to have had more information available. Makes you proud to think there were decent people back then who fought for civil rights when it would have seemed like an insignificant idea.
Nice quiet location along the path designed to encourage calmness. Muted colours and smooth shapes with greenery. Gandhi statue is just steps away and you are at the foot of the Museum for Human Rights.
