Huang Ji Huang
2024 Feb 10
Step into the vibrant world of Huang Ji Huang, where the fiery embrace of Mala simmer hot-pot awaits! A haven for Chinese food enthusiasts, especially during festive Lunar New Year celebrations. After a hiatus of five flavorful years, I revisited this culinary gem.

Despite the passage of time, the essence remains unchanged, with a mere 5% price bump that pales in comparison to the generosity of their portion sizes.

Our feast included the Mix Kombinasi, featuring succulent Iga Babi (Pork Ribs), plump Udang (Shrimps), tender Daging Sapi (Beef Slices), and silky Egg Tofu. But fear not, for amidst this protein parade, an array of complimentary Sweet Potatoes, Potatoes, Carrots, Celeries, and Dates add colorful variety. For an extra kick, dive into their tantalizing Mala sauce, weaving a symphony of flavors that elevate each ingredient to new heights!

At Huang Ji Huang, dining is a communal experience, with families gathering to share in the joy of food, marveling at the skilled hands that blend each element into a harmonious masterpiece. It's a haven for family bonding and culinary exploration. Come one, come all, but be warned: this pork-centric paradise is strictly non-halal! 👍🏼
I have been a regular customer at Yakiniku Like branches. I just love how you can customize every combination of sauce and type of meat to grill on personal griller right in front of you. Eat with your own pace, taste every slice of meat slowly.
I ordered 1 set of Trio, consists of Rossu, Karubi and Tounge, 1 set of Karubi 200gr with Yuzu ice-cream. You can choose from 100-250gr of rice as part of the set and either Kimchi or Salad on the side. Food is 9 of 10. You must try their Karage Chicken, this tastes different and much bigger/hot/crispier than the ones you can get from the set add-ons.

Too bad, they forgot to serve the Yuzu ice-cream (we just realized when we're on our way back home).
Upon stepping into Ootoya Pacific Place, I found myself immersed in an authentically Japanese dining experience, marking my inaugural visit to one of Ootoya's franchises. From the meticulously crafted menu to the presentation of dishes on the table, the essence of Japan permeated every aspect.

Opting for a table for two, my companion and I indulged in the Sukiyaki Nabe, a communal hot pot brimming with tender slices of beef, vibrant vegetables, and tofu. The balance of flavors was impeccable, striking a harmonious chord between sweetness and saltiness. Each element, from the perfectly cooked vegetables to the succulent beef, melded seamlessly, delighting the palate.

Complementing our meal were sets of Teriyaki Salmon with Gohan Set, featuring warm Japanese rice, Miso Soup, and the velvety Chawanmushi, along with the unexpectedly delightful Sumitori Jyu. This simple yet remarkable dish showcased charcoal-grilled marinated chicken atop a bed of warm Japanese rice, layered with seaweed. The grilled chicken exuded a tantalizing aroma, devoid of excessive sauce, allowing the purity of flavors to shine through, embodying the essence of Japanese cuisine.

Reflecting on my experience, Ootoya emerges as a haven for those longing for an authentic taste of Japan, a sentiment that will undoubtedly draw me back whenever nostalgia for Japanese cuisine strikes.
