Water Garden
2024 Apr 26
Water Garden Park is an oasis in the middle of this busy city! There is a 300 fil entry fee (cash only) and it gets you access to this beautiful green space. Many of the plants have labels nearby if you want to learn more about them.

In the center of the park is Dona's Wonders, a cute cafe offering gluten free food options!

Come here for a walk or picnic and take some time to relax.
In 2001, Sultan Qaboos decided to build an opera house in Oman’s capital.

London architects were commissioned to build the opera house, which began construction in 2007. After four years of construction the Royal Opera House Muscat, whose name was inspired by the Royal Opera House in London, opened in autumn 2011.

Today, the Royal Opera House Muscat hosts a diverse program that includes not just opera but also Arabic jazz, tango and performances for children.
During a visit to the opera house for shows, Omanis traditionally wear their national costumes, while foreign guests appear in formal wear.

The Muscat Opera House is set on 80 acres of land and the modern, Omani architectural style combines different traditions and makes the building look like a palace of the Arabian Nights. The interior is furnished with marble floors and is adorned with genuine Omani handicrafts. The theater space, decorated in reds and golds, accommodates 1,100 guests!
Tried the pastrami with creamy mac and cheese made with 14-day pastrami! This is the ultimate comfort food! I recommend giving it a try! 110 AED at time of writing.
Beautiful modern and trend setting downtown. From the clean and well designed metro to the gorgeous courtyards and various restaurants/coffee shops, this is an area worth checking out!
The Hill and Monument of Filopappou in Athens: Filopappou (or Philopappou) Hill is a green area to the southwest of the Acropolis. It is a favorite promenade of the Athenians and there you can have great views of the Acropolis, the whole city of Athens and the Aegean Sea that surrounds Attica. You can access the trail via multiple points and it takes about 15 minutes to get to the monument.

Background: In 115 AD, a monument dedicated to the exiled Roman Prince Gaius Julius Antichus Philopappos of Commagene (a region in ancient Armenia) was erected on top of the hill.

After his exile, Philopappos was settled in Athens, became an Athenian citizen and held religious and civil offices. He was considered a great benefactor and was highly esteemed by the residents.

The grave monument of Philopappos was constructed of marble from Mount Pentelikon, near Athens, and Mount Imittos, to the southeast of Athens.
