Taishoken Ramen
2024 Feb 05
I wouldn't consider this a destination restaurant for ramen but it has a cozy interior, and is a convenient spot to have dinner before a Canucks game. Food is pretty good, not spectacular. Nice server. There's only one single bathroom but it was spacious and clean.
A one-room hyperlocal exhibit of Toronto's history. Free admission. It took me about 15-20 minutes to go through everything. I think it's worth a visit when also seeing the art galleries housed in the same building.
The Bombhead exhibit was up when I visited - interesting collection to view and read about given the European war currently going on.

The gallery itself is small, one large room and a smaller closed-door room to view video. But everything is set up very well and entrance is by donation. It's also centrally located in the arts district within a few minutes of the Nanaimo Museum and Vancouver Island Military Museum - I visited all three and made for a fun/educational afternoon.
Easy to get to in the town centre, only $4 admission for adults. It's a small museum but provides a good walk-through of Canadian military history.
It's the upper level of a retro toy store outside Bay Centre. Entry by donation. Great for nostalgia.
