Located in the garden of Villa Caffarelli at the Capitoline Museums, you can admire the evocative reconstruction of the Colossus of Constantine, one of the most representative works of late ancient Roman sculpture, created on a 1:1 scale, thanks to the in-depth study of literary and epigraphic sources and of the nine original fragments preserved in the courtyard of Palazzo dei Conservatori. About 13 meters high, the colossal statue of Constantine (4th century AD) depicts the emperor in the guise of a seated Jupiter, a cloak on his shoulder, the globe in his left hand and the scepter in his right. As soon as you enter the entrance to the gardens of Villa Caffarelli, you are amazed by the size and beauty of this colossal statue, and your thoughts go back in time and imagine the beauty and grandeur of imperial Rome.
