I had a great walk. I visited in March 2024 and a few of the paths were muddy but most of them are dry. There are great walks to be had around the lakes. I will definitely be back.I would recommend visiting the reserve's website. There is a lot more information than I can give here including visit's by group's looking for educational visit's. I don't think the reserve could be wheelchair friendly but there were families with baby buggies, young children and dog's. I will be back later on in the spring and summer. It's one of those places that is always changing.
It is one of the walks I really enjoy. There is a cafe there now and some public toilets, which is good for everyone.
I visited Sark for the day and rediscovered this gem.I did the Channel Island Way walk many years ago and needed to rediscover what I had seen.Hope you like the photos.17.08.22
I had a great walk from Lyndhurst to Brockenhurst and the pathway passed through Whiteley Wood.It is stunning and very peaceful. The pavement walk from Lyndhurst to Bank wasn't that enjoyable but there was a pavement to walk on.The road was very busy and when I arrived at Bank the traffic noise receded into the distance. The pathways are easy to follow and eithe go to Lyndhurst or Brockenhurst. It was a fairly long walk and when I arrived at Beachern Wood I didn't realise just how far it was to the train station.I visited during the Queen's platinum celebration and the weather was dry. There are nice places to rest but bring your own water, and a map that has either the pathways or the way markers.Good luck and enjoy.
I visited here a few years ago when i walked the channel island way which involved walking the coast paths of the five islands, and actually i walked around six.Not many people have heard of lithou.Jersey ferry terminal is absolutely fine in my opinion.I travelled from Poole and had the pleasure of travelling with Condor, and the smaller ferry companies,Trident and Bumblebee while i did my walk.Jersey's terminal is clean, they sell food and drink and got me where i had to go.Jersey was the last island in the walk and i thought id take a reminder home with me,a Jersey lily flower bulb. Now it's Christmas 2018 and after a summer of wondering what exactly was sprouting, and flowering, the bare bulb is sprouting and looking very much like a lily. The Elizabeth Terminal is exactly that,a travel hub and a place to wait for the ferry. It's fine and serves it's purpose and you wont be waiting for ever, and we all know you'll be back to the Channel Islands one day.I will keep you posted on the lily, bought at the ferry terminal.Safe seas.
