Good, authentic food for a reasonable price.

The queues were quite long when we arrived for around 7pm on a weekday. But they did move relatively fast which helped (we maybe waited around 15minutes).

The menu had a lot of choice with many pictures to accompany the dishes, so you know what to expect. They had both Chinese and English menu's also. Some of the staff were also English speaking.

Be prepared to share tables if your travelling as a couple or small group.

There was a mix of locals and tourists here which was good to see. Would recommend coming here to try some local food which is well priced. The pork belly and egg fried rice I would recommend.

If you're here for the food, it's ok, but not fantastic. Everything tasting fine but it wasn't the meal you'd expect for a £200 British pounds meal for a 3 course for two with a bottle of wine.

But what made this experience worth while and why I wasn't fussed to pay that price was for the view.

I came here on my first evening in Shanghai and my first experience of the Shanghai skyline - and it's something that genuinely blew my socks off.

The view you get is exceptional from their terrace area, which we always snuck out to in-between our courses and to enjoy finishing off our bottle of wine before our dessert came out. You're about 5 stories up from what I remember and can see all sides of the Huangpu river.

The staff were also very friendly and some were English speaking which helped. If this is your first time in Shanghai, I'd recommend booking a table here just for the view.

The best place for Xiao Long Bao - soup dumplings.

You will most likely need to queue here. We arrived on a weekday at around 12.20pm and didn't get seated until around 1.15pm. Although, we walked past here the next day at around the same time to visit a soup dumpling place opposite, and the queue was less than half the size as when we joined. So your waiting time might vary - but regardless, it's likely you'll need to queue.

Seating is limited inside and you'll likely need to share a table if you're in a couple or small group.

These soup dumplings were probably the best I had in China - and anywhere else for that matter. They were made fresh and the flavour was amazing. Their menu changes often, depending on what they are making on that day.

Would highly recommend if you're in the area and have time to queue. It's just a shame it's such a small, cramped place, and a bit of a dive - but that does add to its character. It's full of locals as well as tourists, which is good to see. But think carefully whether you want to queue after a long day likely walking/travelling.

We paid around £15 for around 20 soup dumplings and a couple of drinks which I think is reasonable.
