Seeing the world In a different way

The British imperial influence can be felt all around colonies of the world. This includes statues of tribute, street names and elements within the legislative frameworks and cultures of people living so far away from England. New Zealand is one such place where you can find memorials such as; the classic bronze of Queen Victoria, which is complemented by a nearby fountain in Albert park. In her pose the Queen is wearing her regal dress and carries in her hand a fan that pays tribute towards her loyal subjects. But now the royal influence is not as celebrated as it once was and maybe it is time for other parts of New Zealand’s diverse culture will be recognized more prominently as well.

The outdoor displays of real military marine vessels makes this museum stand out. The ships appear to be in great condition and there is knowledge staff onboard each vessel to offer visitors information and answer questions you may have.

I also liked looking at related marine exhibits inside. While I was there, there was a marine photography display and it had some amazing National Geographic level photos. Just amazing. I only wish I could take a photo as good as they have.

Plan to spend at least one hour here. Note if you are tall or suffer from confined spaces then going into the submarine may not be such a good idea. It is cramped inside and if you are taller than 5 ft 6 then you will likely hit your head on something.

Well worth the trip. Nature is awesome. The ground facilities were excellent and well maintained. Note there are several stairs so you will need to consider this if you want to catch the views

After watching the construction of Toronto’s City Hall in 1965, I decided to finally take a look inside. The building still has that 1967 expo vibe when Canada celebrated its 100th year of confederation birthday with its large curved column and central podium.

But this modern building design had both praise and ridicule after being built. One mayor in the 70’s from Alberta called Toronto’s city hall looked like a large ‘Urinal’ and that nick name stuck for a few years. Now the building’s structure is referred to as an eye when looking down from above.

It is sort of fitting that public bathrooms have once again flushed itself back to become a hot topic for Toronto’s city hall.

While visiting the Hockey Hall of fame I strongly recommend that you look around the Brookfield place mall. The high glass ceiling is amazing. They have thousands of lights dancing high above and at night time it is spectacular.

There is also special exhibits on display. I saw the Salvador Dali work and that too was fantastic.
