This was one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World. The location was discovered when a donkey fell through the access shaft. The architecture inside is a combination of Greco-Roman and Egyptian. Some of areas require low crawl to get to (see video). Overall a great place to visit in Alexandria.

While this mall resembles the western malls in appearance, there is an entire section of this mall made up of small local shops. It's almost like a mini bazaar inside the mall. The western style businesses like McDonald's and Adidas are nothing special. There are many great ice cream stands and different local snacks, so don't waste your time in familiar western style stores.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this cafe. This was the only decent restaurant within walking distance from my hotel. Service was a bit slow, but food was very good. The mint lemonade was fantastic. Grilled chicken was not over cooked, and seasoned well. There are plenty of seats inside and outside. It was not busy at all at dinner on a Friday.

Pretty good quality hotel for this area. Rooms are clean. Breakfast was good. Nice neighborhood with decent balcony view. The area is relatively quiet. There are many good restaurants and convenient stores in the area too. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately no photography is allowed in this museum. It is packed with impressive works of art throughout the Ottoman Empire history. Many of the nobility and Sultans were really good artists, because they hired famous as teachers and went to art schools in Europe. Some of the paintings depicted historical events, such as the overthrowing of the monarchy in the early 1900s. The museum is small but worth the time.
