it can only be visited with a ticket, it is included in the basic ticket which includes part of the castle, the golden alley and the cathedral. it is an alley with very small houses, in one of them Kafka stayed, you will see the story there. another belonged to a seamstress, in another there was a fortune teller. each one has an interesting story and presents a very well organized, colorful, small space full of charm. I was in the middle of February during the week, fortunately there were not many people and we could see them well. above them on the floor is a corridor with weapons and places of torture. there is also an alchemist's workshop in the basement. in some houses there are shops with handmade things now.

It's the highlight of the whole historical complex. Every small house has its story, its peculiar decorations. It's possible to visit, enter, and read the story/legend of each one of the small houses.Brilliant and super fun.
It gets crowded quite easily during the day. I suggest to go has soon as possible once you get the entrance ticket in the morning.

A place or alley where there are colorful and old buildings inside Parague castle.
It was built in the past as a residence for the soldiers and butlers who guarded Prague Castle,
and was given the name 'Golden Lane' when alchemists and goldsmiths lived there in the 16th century.
It is fun to look at various works of art in colorful and cute shops reminiscent of European fairytale villages,
and there is also an exhibition hall that reproduces life in medieval Prague,
such as armor, helmets, and weapons, so you can enjoy a variety of things to see.
You can see the 'Kafka Studio', a small house with blue exterior walls that the poet and writer 'Franz Kafka',
born in Prague, used as his studio for a year.
Most of the small houses are now operated as souvenir shops.
OK to visit when you visit Prague castle, but not worth visiting this one only.

Very interesting history here. Lots of medieval armor, weapons, shields, period clothing, and small exhibits of what the rooms looked like in the past, how they would have been used. How the people would have lived and worked for the castle. When you purchase the tickets to the castle, you'll have specific buildings that you'll be able to explore. This being one of them.

Loved visiting this beautiful street with so much history. They close early (4 PM) so make sure you save time to visit it! Franz khafka's sister lived on this street, and they have many educational spots on the street to learn about the past and what it was like for residents to live here. Fascinating! Also, visit the torture chamber! Short visit and really cool!

I enjoyed so much walking on the Golden Lane! If you take your time and visit all those little old houses it is like a full immersion in history, I walked in those places trying to imagine how they looked when they were full of people, how were those people’s lives, how they felt, what were they dreaming of… superb experience!!!

Yet another great place to visit this time inside Prague Castle. On the day we visited the snow was again heavy and everywhere was very slippery that made walking on the cobblestone very treacherous. The golden lane was so interesting and worth the visit only downside was the exit at the far end of Golden Lane with people slipping and hurting themselves on the sloping cobblestone and exit down stairs through the narrowest of stairways took over 45 minutes knocking the edge of what was a great place and with so much more to see of interest.

Pretty cool spot to see. Some of the buildings have little shops in them. Not very big, but it's part of a larger complex that has a lot to see. Definitely check it out!
