Sub-par claypot chicken rice in a hot and stuffy enclosure of a hawker centre. The fact that you have to wait 30-40 minutes for what is a mediocre pot of claypot rice does not justify the price and time. It would be far more tolerable had it been a shorter wait for what is mid claypot rice. You wait for tradition but the taste doesn’t justify the old school cooking method. Tasteless rice and the sauce is just average.

It has been years since I visited Lian He Ben Ji, mostly because of their long waiting time and that I have been exploring all kinds of other food. Finally revisited when they just open as we were having a late lunch that day.
We told the auntie for 3 pax and was recommend the $20 portion. It was cooked to order and we waited around 20 minutes. Food was how I remembered it and I really love the layer of charred rice at the end.

Norm. Long waiting time. Chicken is good though but I still don't feel it is uniquely tasty to wait for 1 hour. Soup is cheap and good. One good point is that you can call in advance to place an order and acquire the waiting time before heading down. The hawker environment is hot too even in the evening so take note.
